Wallpaper Stripping in Belfast.

We recently completed this Wallpaper Stripping & Painting work on an internal stairwell at a commercial building in East Belfast. The wallpaper had been stuck so hard that it lasted over 20 years. And it showed, we nearly needed therapy after this one. After steam stripping the paper, mechanical and hand sanding the substrate back to a smooth surface, it was then ready for the the base coat of Zinsser Gardz.

The stairwell wasn’t in great condition, but after a good stripping of wallpaper, a coat of Zinsser Gardz and fresh coats of Farrow & Ball’s Borrowed Light, it now looks in great condition.

The Zinsser Gardz is a great product for hiding water stains, sealing chalky substrates, sealing wallpaper adhesive residue & providing a sealed uniform surface for the top coats. You can apply 1 or 2 coats depending on the substrate. It’s perfect for painting on and helps prevent flashing. See below.…
